David Bentley – My Love
I am a landscape artist, unfamiliar with portrait painting. All my work, however, aims to elicit emotional responses from the viewer. For my first portrait painting, I thought it fitting to paint someone whom I spend my whole life with. My Love is a portrait of my partner, the artist Josephine Cole. Although Josephine is a reserved and quiet person, there is a side to her that is defiant – she readily makes her views transparent to those she talks to. Josephine has a fiery determination and strength which I wanted to capture within my painting.
