Robyn, acrylic paint

The portrait I’ve chosen is of my godmother, Robyn, because she and I share the same artistic abilities, but in different ways. Robyn is shown surrounded by many colourful clothes. Her sewing bag nearby shows her love of fashion. Her main interests are redesigning clothes and jewellery making and she will often be seen wearing the latest fashion, from earrings to high heel shoes. Robyn is a fashion designer as well as doing several part-time jobs, so the painting reflects her busy but creative lifestyle.
What really moves me the most is that she has managed to stay tall and strong after the tragic deaths of her husband and two children 17 years ago. From my early years until now, Robyn has looked upon me as a ‘daughter’ figure. Robyn and I share the same creative tastes. She is always really supportive of me and will always be full of ideas for my future art projects. Her dog Alice, shown in the painting, has been a perfect companion to Robyn for 11 years, spending many hours on her lap while she works on her next craft project.
Robyn and I have very different styles of art, but enjoy exchanging ideas. We have a common love of unpredictability, enjoy surprising the viewer with our unique styles. Robyn is my inspiration, my second mother and my very special friend.
