Cavemen, photography

My piece, Aiden and Shawn, Urban Cavemen, explores (and pushes) the boundaries and the expectations placed on adolescents in contemporary society. The two boys are depicted in a position of submission, with even the camera looking down on them as they cower for warmth. While appearing vulnerable, it’s evident that the two boys possess great strength and desire for change, but they can’t escape the oppression of “The Man”. The warm glow presents a glimmer of hope, but it fades fast, quickly repressed by the relentless cold of intolerance – a situation all too common among today’s youth.
