Hamish Lyons Hall – Moonleaf

Getting ready for a big night out on the town has been a female-dominated field. This has been the common perception for too long. This painting of Liam hopes to expose and celebrate what men really do before they venture out into the night in the often futile hope that they will ‘pick up’.
Society has changed. The emergence of metrosexuals has made it OK for men to spend extended periods of time priming themselves in an effort to make themselves appealing to the opposite sex. It’s not enough these days to simply change your shirt after football, spray on some ‘shower in a can’ and expect the ladies to be swooning over your carefree, rugged masculinity.
This isn’t just a painting of my mate Liam, this is a snapshot of young men in society today. I painted Liam as honestly as I could to represent what the average bloke does every Saturday night. I chose Liam because he is a representation of the average twenty-something year old. Moonleaf is a good bloke; he works hard, he plays hard.
