Attention News Editors/Chiefs of Staff – News Reminder for Today
Tuesday April 1, 11.30am, Wrest Point, Boardwalk Gallery
A practical example: art and business working together
A reminder that a preview – and announcement of the organisers favourite – will be held this morning in Hobart for the inaugural RACT Insurance Tasmanian Youth Portrait Prize.
The overall official winner will be announced at a function at 6.30pm tonight (Tuesday) at Wrest Point's Boardwalk Gallery. However, this morning at 11.30am:
- See the portraits – all of Tasmanians and painted by young Tasmanian artists.
- The organisers will announce their favourite portrait, and award the artist.
- Meet some of the official judges, including Tasmanian 2003 Archibald winner Geoff Dyer
- High quality catalogue of entries available
There is for a strong recognition that business should support the arts in Tasmania, and the RACT Insurance Tasmanian Youth Portrait Prize is a good example of a strong alliance between the arts and business in this State.
MEDIA are invited to attend this mornings announcement and are also invited to the announcement this evening of the official winner of the Prize. This evening session will take place at 6.30pm at the Board Walk Gallery at Wrest Point. A news release will be issued following the ceremony. For contacts this evening, please ring: Ralph Doedens on 0407 018 175.
The winner announced tonight receives $5,000 and a trip for two to Sydney to view the Archibald Prize for Portraiture.
For further information, Ralph Doedens, Chief Executive of RACT Insurance, on 6232 6383. |
